Former Chiefs Star On The Comeback Trail

A former Kaizer Chiefs player who was spotted during Nike’s The Chance competition, where he turned some heads with his impressive performances, is keen on resurrecting his career in the country’s top-flight.

Nicholas Mynhardt penned a three-year deal at Naturena in 2012, however, the former Wits University forward struggled to break into the Amakhosi first team, spending most of his time playing in the Gauteng Reserve League (Now MDC).

In a bid to rekindle his PSL career, he left the Soweto giants where he joined Vasco Da Gama in 2014.

With things not quite working out with the now-defunct team, Mynhardt jetted off to England where he spent some time playing non-league football, but returned to Mzansi following the birth of his son.

Still only 28, Myhardt is keen on rekindling his career and spent some time training with Black Leopards last year, although nothing came of it.

Mynhardt also revealed to the Siya crew that he has been in contact with some clubs, ranging as far as the GladAfrica Championship and is confident that he will be back playing football in the new season.

“I have been speaking to a few people, even teams in the GladAfrica and I’m looking to get something there, but the PSL is my main focus,” Myhardt said.

The former Wits University man has also revealed that he is pursuing his coaching badges.

“I completed my CAF D license last year, but obviously with COVID-19 we couldn’t do anything. I have also been training with an SAB team in Bedfordview before lockdown, I’ve been in contact with a few teams, and I even trained with Leopards for a while, but it was mid-season so nothing could really be done.” Myhardt concluded.
