Despite the side languishing at the bottom of the Absa Premiership table, Golden Arrows managed to scrape past Polokwane City in the Nedbank Cup last 32 to seal a last 16 berth. However, the KZN-based side have reiterated their desire to avoid relegation this season, and will face a stern test if they are to head towards overcoming this with a home tie against last season’s PSL rookies, University of Pretoria, at the King Zwelithini Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
Wits have hit form off late winning their last three games, and look to pile pressure on Mamelodi Sundowns who succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to cross-town rivals, Orlando Pirates in midweek. Gavin Hunt’s side pulled off an impressive 3-2 win over SuperSport United a fortnight ago, and are eager to pull off another win that will edge them closer to toppling The Brazilians. Pitso Mosimane’s charges are heavily under pressure to claim silverware this season, and will have to put their disappointing midweek loss behind them going into this tie.
Unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions and still very much in the race of claiming a treble, Kaizer Chiefs will square off against a very closed-book Mozambican side, Liga Muculmana, in their first leg clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium tomorrow night. The Glamour Boys have had an impressive Champions League run this far after brushing aside Namibian champions, Black Africa, 4-1 on aggregate in both home and away legs.
Despite having only played 16 games so far this season, Orlando Pirates are on a mission to pick up where they left off after beating Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday night and slowly climb up the PSL table. The Buccaneers have also been boosted by the addition of former Chiefs duo, striker Lehlohonolo Majoro, and coach Vladimir Vermezovic, although it might take a while for the pair to make the Bucs bench.
After crushing Atletico De Madrid 3-0 in the Copa Del Rey, Carlo Ancelotti and his side are hoping to overcome Diego Simeone’s side in this weekend’s Spanish Primera Liga. Los Blancos could open a six-point gap at the top of the standings with a win at the Vicente Calderón Stadium in the highly-anticipated Madrid Derby.
If you are a betting person, here are tips ahead of the fixtures brought to you by Soccer 6 and Moroka Swallows defender, Larry Cohen.

League position: Arrows 16th and Tuks 12th
Useful facts: Struggling Arrows will no doubt be targeting a victory when they welcome Tuks to Durban. The Backheel Boys are fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table, and must feel winning home games is vital for survival. Expect a very tight game with neither side giving much away.
Larry Cohen: I’ll say a 1-0 win to Tuks.
League position: Wits 4th and Downs 2nd
Useful facts: Wits are mathematically still in the title race, although they will need to win a lot of games in their remaining fixtures. However, Downs are realistically Kaizer Chiefs’ only real remaining threat for the PSL crown. Expect a full-blooded clash with both teams going for the jugular from the first whistle.
Larry Cohen: Phew! This is a tough one. I’ll tip a 2-2 draw.
League position: Chiefs 1st (in South Africa) and Muculmana 1st (in Mozambique)
Useful facts: Chiefs will look to continue their, so far, successful CAF Champions League campaign when they welcome Liga Muculmana to the Moses Mabhida Stadium. What could stand in the Glamour Boys’ favour is that their opponents have only played two official matches since November last year. Anything less than three points would be a failure for Chiefs.
Larry Cohen: Chiefs to win 3-1.
League position: Pirates 6th and Stars 15th
Useful facts: Pirates are fast having a season to forget! Bucs are virtually out of the title race and have lost three cup finals already as well. Morale is clearly low in the camp and struggling Free State Stars could look to capitalize by putting on a good showing.
Larry Cohen: 4-0 Pirates win. Bucs will bounce back.
League position: Atletico 3rd and Real 1st
Useful facts: In this absolutely critical top-of-the-table clash in Spain, Atletico’s title aspirations will surely be tested by a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Real outfit. This match could produce blood, guts and thunder! However, the Galacticos are a bit special and will fancy their chances against the Mattress Makers.
Larry Cohen: Real Madrid will win this one, 3-0.
