Defending Botswana Premier League champions, Township Rollers, will host Absa Premiership league leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, in the second leg of their CAF Champions League campaign tie at the National Stadium in Gaborone on Saturday, February 28. Mapalastina are looking to overturn a 2-1 deficit, having lost to the Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium a fortnight ago. The Gaborone side have so far lost four matches in the league out of 20 matches compared to their neighbours who have only lost once after the same number of matches. Despite losing their first league match this season against SuperSport United last week, Stuart Baxter’s side bounced back to record an emphatic 4-0 trouncing against Edu Sport FC in the Nedbank Cup and will aim to build on that win to progress to the next round of the continental showpiece.
Fresh from their Europa League exit at the expense of Besiktas, Liverpool face reigning Barclays Premiership champions, Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, March 1. The home side overcame Southampton 2-0 in their last league outing and will hope for a similar showing against the Citizens. Manuel Pellegrini’s charges were in rampant mood in their last league outing, thumping Newcastle United 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium, but now face an early exit from the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals after they were dealt a blow on Tuesday evening when they fell to a 2-1 loss at home to Barcelona in the first leg of their last 16 tie. The Etihad side will however look to put that disappointment aside because with Chelsea playing Tottenham Hotspur in the Capital One Cup this weekend, Pellegrini's men have the chance to make up ground and close the gap at the top to just two points. In their last league meeting, Montenegrin striker, Stevan Jovetic scored twice as City crushed the Reds with a 3-1 Barclays Premier League victory.
Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars who are both coming off 3-0 victors in their respective Nedbank Cup ties, will square off on Sunday, March 1, at the Free State Stadium in a league encounter. Phunya Sele Sele currently sit eighth on the PSL standings and a home victory could see them topple Ajax if the Cape Town outfit fail to pick up maximum points in their tie. Dikwena on the other hand find themselves in a precarious position, sitting in 15th place just above AmaZulu.
The 2015 Capital One Cup Final will see Chelsea square up against London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday, February 28. Both sides are battling to secure their fifth League Cup triumph, with the Blues last winning it 10 years ago after beating Liverpool 3-2 in the final. Ironically, when it comes to The Lily Whites, they last lifted the trophy back in the 2007/08 season after beating Chelsea 2-1 through an extra time goal by Jonathan Woodgate. The Road to Wembley saw Jose Mourinho’s men dispatch Bolton Wanderers, Shrewsbury Town, Derby County and Liverpool to earn their final berth place, whereas Spurs knocked out Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Sheffield United. The Stamford Bridge side are out for revenge after they were stunned 5-3 by Mauricio Pochettinho’s troops in a league encounter. The White Hart Lane outfit also have a lot to play for following their disappointing Europa League exit on Thursday evening after losing 3-1 on aggregate to Fiorentina in the round of 32.
Ajax Cape Town will be looking to take their Nedbank Cup momentum into the Absa Premiership when they host their former city rivals, Chippa United at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening, February 27. The Urban Warriors picked up the biggest win of this season’s Nedbank Cup thus far when they demolished Kimberley outfit, Mainstay United, 9-1. Things have not quite gone their way in the past few league fixtures and they have fallen well off the pace having held onto second position for some time in the sesaon. Roger De Sa’s men have failed to win any of their last seven league outings. The Chilli Boys, who are still thought to have a strong supporters base in the Mother City, will aim to shock the home team. They are yet to pick up a win in 2015 and are placed 11th on the PSL log standings with 23 points from 19 matches. The last time these two sides met earlier this season, goals from Mxolisi Ntshingila and Thabiso Nkoana saw the match end in a 1-1 draw.

TOWNSHIP ROLLERS V KAIZER CHIEFS
League position: Rollers 2nd (in Botswana) and Chiefs 1st (in the PSL)
Useful facts: If Chiefs lose this CAF Champions League second leg preliminary round qualifier, it will no doubt be a complete embarrassment for South African football. Rollers had to have a fundraising drive to raise funds for their campaign in Africa, and this gives an indication of their relative humbleness as a force on the continent. If Stuart Baxter’s men don’t manage to hold on to their 2-1 first leg lead and suffer a loss, expect a backlash from Mzansi’s fans. This could be a nervy affair in Botswana.
Zeca Marques: Chiefs win. They should be too strong.
LIVERPOOL V MANCHESTER CITY
League position: Liverpool 6th and City 2nd
Useful facts: Liverpool are bang on form and are now amongst the favourites to secure a top four finish. After a season that started with all the certainty of an episode of the ‘Keystone Cops’, Brendan Rodgers has managed to get the Reds back on the right path. Even Mario Balotelli looks like he might be a good player. City, on the other hand, are in form following the 5-0 hiding they gave Newcastle United recently, and Yaya Toure’s return has given the club the boost that was so sorely missing in recent weeks. This could be an absolute cracker at Anfield.
Zeca Marques: This could go either way, so I’ll go with a draw.
BLOEMFONTEIN CELTIC V PLATINUM STARS
League position: Celtic 8th and Stars 15th
Useful facts: Celtic appear to be playing a brand of football that has the players going out there with smiles on their faces. Clinton Larsen’s return to Siwelele seems to have everyone buzzing with enthusiasm and positivity. Meanwhile, Stars are still mired in the relegation places and nerves will be jangling in the Dinaledi dressing room. This could be an intriguing battle in Bloemfontein.
Zeca Marques: Celtic home win because Stars are struggling.
CHELSEA V TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
League position: Chelsea 1st and Spurs 7th
Useful facts: Jose Mourinho recently blasted the poor officiating in the English Premiership, and he expressed the view that Chelsea were often being victimised by it. That could lead to a touchline ban in this League Cup final for the Portuguese. This may give Spurs some semblance of an advantage, although it may also serve to motivate the Blues even more. Expect a rousing clash in this game between these two London rivals.
Zeca Marques: Chelsea win all the way.
AJAX CAPE TOWN V CHIPPA UNITED
League position: Ajax 7th and United 11th
Useful facts: Ajax are fresh off knocking in nine goals in the Nedbank Cup and this might give the club some added confidence in front of the old onion bag. Scoring goals was becoming an issue for the Urban Warriors. Meanwhile, Chippa are struggling to adapt to life under Ernst Middendorp following some poor results. Ajax might just be favourites in this Absa Premiership encounter in the beautiful Mother City.
Zeca Marques: Draw.
