The Buccaneers resume the second round of the Absa Premiership league with a home tie against SuperSport United tomorrow afternoon. Roger De Sa's men are playing catch up to other teams in the league after being involved in the Caf Champions League after narrowly missing out to Al Ahly at the last hurdle. The Mayfair outfit hold the upper going into this clash having beaten Cavin Johnson's side twice in cup competitions, but the two sides are yet to meet in a league encounter this season.
The Gunners are up against Fulham at home in a London derby. Arsene Wenger's team will look to complete a double over their struggling counterparts after the first round fixture ended in a 3-1 drubbing. The Craven Cottage outfit are only two points adrift of the relegation zone, and are up for causing an upset when they make the short trip to the Emirates Stadium.
Manchester City are only one goal away from scoring their 100th goal in all competitions this season. The Etihad side are still within a chance of securing all four trophies following their recent 5-0 mauling of Black Burn Rovers in the FA Cup. Manuel Pellegrini's charges could move top of the English Premiership standings if table-toppers Arsenal fail to secure a win at home in their earlier fixture on the day.
ORLANDO PIRATES V SUPERSPORT UNITED
League position: Pirates 11th and United 6th
Useful tips: If Pirates were to win all their games in hand, Bucs would be top of the table with a four-point lead over Kaizer Chiefs. This must be a motivating factor for Roger de Sa’s men as they prepare for the visit of SuperSport. Matsatsantsa struggled towards the end of 2013 after picking up just one win in their last five matches played.
Paul Johnstone: Draw. That’ll be a good result for us in the standings.
ARSENAL V FULHAM
League position: Arsenal 1st and Fulham 16th
Useful tips: Arsenal will want to continue their dominance at home when they welcome struggling Fulham to the Emirates Stadium. The league race this season appears to be a neck-and-neck affair and dropping points against struggling teams could prove costly. Arsene Wenger will undoubtedly emphasise this fact to his players ahead of this London Derby.
Paul Johnstone: Arsenal win.
MANCHESTER CITY V CARDIFF CITY
League position: City 2nd and Cardiff 18th
Useful tips: City are scoring goals for fun and are virtually undefeatable at home. Sergio Aguero’s imminent return to the starting line-up only adds to the Sky Blues’ rich arsenal of attacking options. This should be a City victory with plenty of room to spare.
Paul Johnstone: City win of course.
