In England, Manchester United and Liverpool will lock horns in the Capital One Cup. In what is one of the United Kingdom’s fiercest rivalries, who do you think will win?
Meanwhile, Italian giants Inter Milan will be hosting Fiorentina in a Serie A clash. Who will have the edge?
If you are a betting person, here are tips ahead of the fixtures brought to you by Soccer 6 and guest predictor, Ajax Cape Town assistant coach, David Nyathi.
MANCHESTER UNITED V LIVERPOOL
League position: United 8th and Liverpool 5th
Useful facts: United suffered a demoralising 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in their last match and will need to rebound quickly. Already plenty of doubts are arising about the competency of coach David Moyes. Liverpool also suffered a surprise loss at home to Southampton, meaning both teams will want to record a positive result in this clash.
David Nyathi: United will want to bounce back. Win for United.
BLACK ACES V BLOEMFONTEIN CELTIC
League position: Black Aces 12th and Celtic 11th
Useful facts: Black Aces appear to still be finding their feet under Clive Barker, although signs are there that his squad has enough quality to survive in the PSL this season. Celtic appear to be gathering momentum and this could be an exciting contest in Mpumalanga.
David Nyathi: This is a tough one so I’ll go for a draw.
INTER MILAN V FIORENTINA
League position: Inter 3rd and Fiorentina 4th
Useful facts: Inter have started the season brightly with three wins from their first four matches played. They’ve also banged in 13 goals and should have plenty of confidence in attack. Fiorentina have also started well, meaning this could be a cracker in Milan.
David Nyathi: I’ll give the win to Inter because they’re looking good.
