Ahead of tonight’s PSL action, we preview four of the five Absa Premiership fixtures taking place.
In only their second league outing of the 2013/14 campaign, Orlando Pirates will be hosting bottom of the log Polokwane City at the Orlando Stadium. Will Pirates bag all three points in front of their home fans or will City get a result?
Maritzburg United and Mpumalanga Black Aces will lock horns at Harry Gwala Stadium, while Platinum Stars welcome University of Pretoria to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Who is your money on?
Meanwhile, log leaders SuperSport United will be aiming to consolidate their spot at the top of the table when they face Moroka Swallows at Lucas Moripe Stadium. Who is your money on?
If you are a betting person, here are tips ahead of the fixtures brought to you by Soccer 6 and guest predictor, Platinum Stars midfielder, Robert Ng’ambi.
MARITZBURG UNITED V BLACK ACES
League position: United 13th and Aces 10th
Useful facts: United have suffered an unfortunate spate of injuries to some of their key performers, and have started the season slowly as a result. Clive Barker’s rejuvenated Black Aces will feel they have every chance of picking up three points in Maritzburg.
Robert Ng’ambi: I’ll have to go for a Black Aces win, hey.
ORLANDO PIRATES V POLOKWANE CITY
League position: Pirates 15th and City 16th
Useful facts: Pirates will want to make up ground with the leaders in the PSL after playing so many Champions League games in recent times. This means struggling City will be firm underdogs in this encounter.
Robert Ng’ambi: Bucs will win. They’ve got a lot of ability.
PLATINUM STARS V UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA
League position: Stars 7th and Tuks 9th
Useful facts: Stars are still playing some lovely football and are always a threat at home. This means a well-organised Tuks will have to be compact and tight as they travel to Rustenburg. Stars may feel they have enough quality to pick up all three points.
Robert Ng’ambi: Platinum Stars win!
SUPERSPORT UNITED V MOROKA SWALLOWS
League position: United 1st and Swallows 6th
Useful facts: United are still setting the pace at the top of the table and look to be a real force in the league this season. Cavin Johnson has really done well to get his philosophy across to his players so quickly. However, Swallows are showing a good level of consistency and could get a point in Pretoria.
Robert Ng’ambi: I think both teams will cancel each other out and so I’ll say a draw.
