Bucs' Mbele Reflects On January Signings

Orlando Pirates administrative officer Floyd Mbele has told Soccer Laduma that all the signings that have been completed in the January transfer window fall in line with the club’s ambitions as the campaign heads to its final quarter.

“The transfer period is the busiest time for football clubs with all the movements happening,” said Mbele.

“Perhaps what makes it more difficult is the fact that we have to keep players focused on the business of playing and giving their best in the midst of all the speculations and potential deals.

“Our technical team always provides us with a comprehensive technical report that guides us as to what players we need to bring in. Since Pirates is an established football club it’s pivotal that the players we bring into the team can cope with the pressure of the club’s ambition and vision,” added the Bucs man.

He further added that the club and the technical team is happy about the players that have been roped in.

“We knew which players we wanted and we went for them. In the transfer window, people need to understand that sometimes it happens that we don’t get all the players we want as its always a highly competitive market.

“As a club, we look forward to helping our new players settle in as soon as possible. Our supporters must play their part in helping the new players feel welcome. The sooner we do this the sooner we will see the best from them.

“All in all its been a good transfer window for us and we hope in July we will build on to the foundations we have laid in January,” concluded Mbele.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers will hope their new signings will help them return to the winning ways when they welcome Maritzburg United on Saturday after their midweek defeat to Ajax Cape Town.
