Bucs' Mbele: Every Team Wants To Win The League
Floyd Mbele declares Orlando Pirates not getting ahead after Soweto derby win
Orlando Pirates’ Soweto derby victory over rivals Kaizer Chiefs has put them second on the PSL table, just 4 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns who are on 39 points.
With nine league games remaining, Pirates have effectively become Sundowns' closest competitors for league honours, however, the Parktown-based club refuses to get ahead of themselves and remain focused on playing according to their plans says the club’s Administrative Officer, Floyd Mbele.
“A derby win is always a highlight of the season, more especially in the way we won it. We won convincingly,” said Mbele talking to Soccer Laduma.
“It’s great for supporters to see goals in what is one of the biggest matches of the PSL calendar. It was a great show for all, however, we won’t make the mistake of getting ahead of ourselves.
“If you observe, the last nine to eight games of the league tend to be the most unpredictable matches of the season. We are at a stage where anything can happen. Teams tend to win matches they should’ve have lost and vice versa so it’s about playing to your plan and ensuring you follow through.
“If you ask me do we want to win the league, of course, I will say yes. Every team wants to win the league but it's about how you play for 32 matches that determine whether you win the league not one,” concluded the Bucs man.
Pirates next play Golden Arrows away at the Princess Magogo Stadium on the 17 March. That match will begin 20:15.
