Gordon Igesund’s squad to take on Swaziland in an international friendly on the 15th of November, appears to have been picked based on form at club level. Nine Orlando Pirates players have made the cut, which indicates that Igesund is rewarding Bucs for their fine run in the CAF Champions League.
In addition, the national team coach has chosen five Kaizer Chiefs players, which seemingly highlights the Glamour Boys' unbeaten run in their last seven matches. However, Mamelodi Sundowns fans may be a little disappointed that only two members of their team received call ups for the clash with the King’s Shield.

In Downs’ impressive start to the season, it’s largely been foreign players like Khama Billiat, Dove Wome and Cuthbert Malajila that have stepped up to the plate. In edition 845 of Soccer-Laduma, it was revealed that Billiat had three goals and five assists. Malajila had tallied three goals and four assists, while Wome had five goals and two assists.
Nonetheless, Hlompho Kekana and Bongani Zungu have both been rewarded for their fine form for Downs.
The rest of Igesund’s squad also appears to have been picked based on recent good form.
However, the Siya crew understands that the squad to face Swaziland on the 15th of November will be different to the one that takes on Spain four days later. Igesund is expected to announce a new squad to face the reigning world champions this Thursday.
