Word reaching the Siya crew is that striker, Fikru Lemessa and defender, Warren Bishop are staying at the University of Pretoria. Lemessa sees his contract coming to an end in June with an option to extend while Bishop will see his expiring in June this year.
University of Pretoria got back to business last Monday with a view to increase their chances of making their way to the top eight at the end of the season.
The Siya crew caught up with coach Steve Barker, who revealed that they’re looking at strengthening their squad, with speculation rife that Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Raymond Monama could be on his way to the club.
“Everybody came back safe and sound, no injuries and we’re looking forward to our second round except Mkhwanazi who is with the national team. We’re proud as a club to have a player representing the country, we don’t want to be seen as a club that develops individuals academically but sportswise too, we hope he will do very well.
“I’m positive that we’ll get something from Sundowns in relation to Raymond Monama. We’ve made our offer known to them and we’re waiting for their response. We don’t have any player who is leaving, Fikru Lemessa and Warren Bishop are staying with us, I don’t know where you heard that they’re leaving.
"Bishop’s contract comes to an end in June so we’ll possibly sit down in May and see what can we do but he’s staying at the moment. We haven’t extended his contract but we’ll sit down with him at the end of the season and discuss his future, then we’ll decide,” said Barker.
