Amajita finished bottom in Group D after playing out a 0-0 draw with Uruguay in their final FIFA U20 World Cup group game.
The Uruguayans threatened early on and went close after 10 minutes when Augustin Canaobbio looping header sailed just over the crossbar.
Amajita looked livelier as the half went on but they were only restricted to efforts from distance, none of which troubled Uruguay's Santiago Mele.
Thabo Senong's charges had a bit of joy down the right flank with Mbatha seeing a lot of the ball, although they were no targets in the box for the winger to aim for.
Uruguay nearly broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when Federico Valverde picked out Nicolas Schiappacasse, who headed just wide of the upright.
South Africa did end the first half strongly in terms of possession but they struggled to carve out clear-cut chances as the score remained goalless at the break.
The South Africans went agonisingly close to taking the lead shortly after the halftime break, but Luther Singh's free-kick crashed against the crossbar.
Amajita went close once again after 63 minutes but Cele saw his close range effort cleared off line, before Mbatha blazed over from close range two minutes later.
The Uruguayans should have taken the lead after 73 minutes when - was played through on goal, but the striker blazed over with only Mondli Mpoto to beat.
South Africa continued to threaten in the closing stages and they squandered a golden chance in the 83rd minute when Singh picked out Mbatha, who managed to blaze over from six-yards out.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but the score remained goalless as Amajita head having failed to win one group game.
