Ovono's Pirates Move Imminent
Felipe Ovono’s Orlando Pirates deal is imminent, with the goalkeeper set to land a PSL deal with the Soweto giants.
On February 27, Soccer Laduma revealed that Bucs were looking to secure the Equatorial Guinea keeper’s signature, and the Siya crew subsequently revealed that the 21-year-old had jetted into the country to train with the team and undergo a medical.
The player’s signing is now imminent and although there have been reports that he has put pen to paper, club officials have indicated that the finer details are being sorted out.
A Soccer Laduma source at the club told the Siya crew that the 21-year-old has impressed the technical team and would be signing on the dotted line at any time. The source said he has been offered a two-year deal with a one-year option, but nothing has been finalised as yet.
"He is very good and the coaches want him. He can sign any time because he is a free agent at the moment and he can be registered at any time," the source said.
Called for comment, Pirates’ PRO, Mickey Modisane, said that if it's not on the official Orlando Pirates website, nothing has happened yet.
"It's true the goalkeeper is training with the team and the rest of the goalkeepers but there is nothing yet. If we haven't reported anything on our website you should know there is nothing that has happened yet. It may happen but it hasn't happened yet," Modisane concluded.
