Thabo Senong has been dealt a blow to his preparations for the upcoming CAF African Youth Championships in Senegal as star midfielder, Nhlakanipho Ntuli will be unavailable to the side.
The 19-year-old FC Twente man, who spent some time in Orlando Pirates’ development structures, has been confirmed as an exclusion from the Amajita squad which is currently in Port Elizabeth by his Dutch side according to media reports.
This marks the second the time Twente have opted to withhold the youngster as the crew previously reported that "Nanana" would not be released by the Eredivisie side ahead of Amajita's AYC qualifier against Cameroon last year in August.
The Siya crew reported that Senong’s men are in the final stages of their preparations where the Amajita mentor is expected to trim his squad to the final 21 which will make the trip to Senegal.
Other injury concerns for the U20 side are Lebo Mothiba of Lille in France, while Fagrie Lakay of Santos who received his full Bafana Bafana call up last year in October ahead of the AFCON qualifiers remains a doubt.
Amajita will play Chippa’s United U19 side on Sunday February 22, before returning to Johannesburg where they are expected to leave for Senegal on either the 27th or 28th of February for the tournament which commences on March 8th.
Senong will hope to guide his charges to a top four finish in order to qualify for the 2015 U20 FIFA World Cup in New Zealand starting in May 2015.
