Kannemeyer Names & Explains His Favourite For Amakhosi Job

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs Defender Calls On Coach To Earn Amakhosi Coaching Gig

By Ryan Gordon - Jun 26, 2018 07:55 PM
A former Kaizer Chiefs star has called on the club to hand Patrick Mabedi the head coach's job on a permanent basis ahead of the new PSL season.
Amakhosi are currently in the hunt for a new coach following Steve Komphela's resignation at the end of last term, with Mabedi having been brought in on an interim basis for the final few games of that campaign.
Chiefs have now been hard at work in the off-season putting together a list of potential candidates, but former Kaizer Chiefs defender, David Kannemeyer believes the Glamour Boys already have the perfect option in their midst.
"I think Chiefs should give Patrick (Mabedi) the go-ahead, he knows the culture of the club," Kannemeyer told the Siya crew, "he's not new to the club as well.
"I think it's going to be a difficult one to bring someone completely from the outside."
Whoever eventually takes over the reins, Kannemeyer believes there are a few key areas the new coach will need to focus on in his first few weeks in the Naturena hottest.
"I think to get the squad settled down early," is what Kannemeyer pinpointed as a key area, before suggesting the club turn to the transfer market to bring in a clinical striker.
"Obviously, I don't know what kind of signings Chiefs are going to make, but I think they need a lethal striker at this point in time," he said.
"A striker that is going to put the ball in the back of the net, and I think that's been lacking for the last three seasons: they've been playing well, but they can't score goals.
"Goals make you win games, and goals make you win championships."

This is a platform where you can expose your self by not knowing soccer, I think those who are saying mabedi is not good for this job , They are smoking whatever , its shows that you don't supporting chiefs . Mabedi get tested with three games that were remaining last season , and he did absolutely good, it shows that he knows the culture of the boys. once you mentioned that Chiefs need overseas coach , i don't know why are you saying that. David raised this ,on what he saw, compare to what Khompela did to chiefs.Mabedi never convected players , he used some players on the right position. it shows that Mabedi knows far better than Khompela. we don't need some one from outside , we need some one who is willing to work not to impress our management. we do have some of the coaches beside Mabedi. ...Arthur Zwane can also do extremely well in terms of coaching. guys lets us support soccer ,let us not play the role of being stupidity. we love Chiefs as much as we love our families, let us stand up and support kaizer chiefs not create politics.

Not taking anything from from you Mr Kannemeyer , Chiefs need a well experienced and tested coach with proven records. Understanding the culture does not mean you can be able do manage a team of this high caliber, man management of different personalities of players and of course the Motaung family.

David , clearly you did not get the MEMO. Mabedi was there with Steve when they failed to win games. We are no longer playing micky mouse games here. We need a top coach. Get that MEMO.

I am failing to understand why some are saying Zebbies need tried & tested, just recently kompela had all those so called qualities but he brought nothing to the table. Just suggesting that maybe Someone like Mabedi can end this constant struggle at NaZooorena

Thats where you are wrong David. remember knowing the culture of a team won't solve any problem or bring you back glory days one needs to be a father figure coach a good motivator, listener, tactician and someone who can handle the pressure from both management and supporters so as i've seen Mabedi with the last few games at helm he is not what chiefs need at the moment he is not an attacking minded coach more like komphela he relies on setpieces.
