For almost a year now, former Bloemfontein Celtic defender Thabang Matuka has been plying his trade in Spain for CD Almunecar.
King Carlo, as the left-back is fondly known, has been on the Spanish outfit’s books since last July, having joined them on a one-year deal.
At the time, the Spanish club lauded Matuka as a ‘great signing’, while also revealing that they had been following him for a while.
The 30-year-old is one of the players who has been affected by the Coronavirus disruptions worldwide after he could not return home as he wished during this period, as confirmed to the Siya crew by his representative Lwazi Sahula of Keep Active Management and Sport Development.
Meanwhile, Matuka recently sent a message to his friends back home, who might have had their plans disrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
“I believe most of you all kind of have regrets after the lockdown was announced on things you should have or could have done. Well, I hope the day you are given your freedom back will be the day you tell yourself you are going for everything that you have wished for. That dream vacation, that master plan, your dream home or car, your crush, get married and have a family, go for it, there is no time for doubting anymore. If it didn't work, fine then you go again. We will be given another lease of life. There is no time to sit back and wait for the perfect moment because there is no such, the current situation gave witness to that,” Matuka’s message on his Facebook account, and in part, reads.
Free State Stars and Maritzburg United are some of the other clubs that Matuka played for in his professional career.
