Ertugral: We Will Do Well This Season

Muhsin Ertugral was visibly happy after he watched his Ajax Cape Town side grab a late 1-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday night.

Ertugral admitted they had been surprised to see seven defensive players in the Chiefs' line up, and that it had been difficult to break them down.

Ertugral was also happy that Tashreeq Morris had been in the right place at the right time, and believes that with the potential and talent in his squad, they will do well this season.

"I think we had the clear chances. In the first half they looked better on the ball, they always do, Kaizer Chiefs, but in countering we had chances, in the first half one on the bar, a one-on-one with Lebo.

"Second-half we dominated actually, I mean Kaizer Chiefs had the possession, but in the end I think we deserved the victory. They make a lot of noise with the ball, with their pass patterns, but we kept our own, and we wanted to counter them and find a way.

"We saw that they played three at the back, and they weren't coming at us, and we couldn't disturb them in the pass patterns so we changed to a clear cut 4-4-2 system, and in the end Tashreeq Morris, that was the luck we have sometimes, the boy you can see in the training session scores goals, and at the right time, he was in the right place."

"(Before the match) I saw seven defensive players, and that showed that at first they wanted to consolidate the match, and weigh out what we're doing, and it was difficult to break them down. They could counter against us all the time.

"Seven defensive players was a big surprise for me, but in the end I think we coped very well with it."

"I was never unconfident (about the team), I hear people talking, but I see what these boys can do in training sessions, they have so much potential and talent, we will do well this season."
