Middendorp’s Praise For Amakhosi Trio, ‘A Marvel To Watch’

After Kaizer Chiefs’ victory over Bidvest Wits last night, Ernst Middendorp singled out three Amakhosi players for specific praise following their efforts in the crucial victory.

Goals from Leonardo Castro and Hendrick Ekstein saw the Glamour Boys secure a 2-0 win over the Absa Premiership leaders and move up to fifth place in the log as they closed the gap on the teams above them.

Now, as they switch their focus to facing ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup, the German admits that he’s very pleased with the progress being made by the team since he took over last year.

He told the club’s official website, “You can see that the players are getting more and more confident… We knew that we had to up our game, and I am glad we did just that.

“I am pleased with the progress we are making. We are still working on certain aspects of the game though. I thought some elements of our passing game needs improving, but the progress is visible with every game.”

Meanwhile, on the topic of individuals, he added, “A player such as Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, for example, is just a marvel to watch. He has an excellent grasp of what we expect of him. He is a fantastic player. Teenage Hadebe provided the much-needed stability at the left-back position, while Kgotso Moleko had a flawless game at right-back.”

Chiefs take on ZESCO United on Sunday as they look to get a good result in Ndola before welcoming them to South Africa for the second leg.
