Erick Mathoho wants Kaizer Chiefs to repeat the 4-1 rout of Polokwane City that they achieved earlier this season when the two sides clash this evening.
The centre back scored the opener as Chiefs beat City in their first ever leg tie back in November, in a game that began a run of a nine-game winning streak for the Amakhosi.
Interestingly, Stuart Baxter’s side go into this game on the back of two league defeats, however did manage to beat SuperSport United 2-0 in the Nedbank Cup in their last outing.
Mathoho told Chiefs’ official website that he’s confident of picking up a win, he said, "I remember when we beat them 4 - 1 at FNB Stadium. We are prepared to repeat the same rout at Peter Mokaba Stadium. We are ready for the game.
“The last time we beat them it was tough. We don't have the luxury of playing in easy games. All the teams come to us motivated to cause an upset and to prove a point. This one is going to be intense because they want to avoid relegation.
“Polokwane is our happy hunting ground. It's an away game but at our alternative ground. We want to improve the chances of defending our title. We have a huge following there. My family and friends always come to support us."
Meanwhile, speaking on the title race, ‘Tower’ said, "We are in it. We will give it our all to fight until we lift the trophy. We want something to show for the hard work we put in this tough season. It is our league and we can't just let it go without a fight.”
Chiefs take on Polokwane at Peter Mokaba Stadium at 19h30 tonight.
