Defensive Star Back For Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs welcome back Erick Mathoho to their matchday squad tonight after recovering from an ankle ligament tear that he sustained last month.
Mathoho hasn’t played for the Amakhosi since scoring in the Carling Black Label Cup last month, sustaining a torn ankle ligament while playing for South Africa at the Olympic Games in Brazil.
Now, just over a month after picking up the injury, the Siya crew has been informed that Mathoho is back in the Glamour Boys’ matchday squad, and that he could return to action against Platinum Stars this evening.
It remains to be seen whether ‘Tower’ will make an immediate return to Steve Komphela’s starting XI now that he’s fit, or whether he will be sat on the bench and eased into playing again, however, he will be at FNB Stadium this evening.
Meanwhile, there is no place for Siphiwe Tshabalala or Keagan Buchanan following their knee injuries, though George Lebese could be back after missing the MTN8 defeat to Cape Town City.
