Cape Town City remain at the number one spot on the Absa Premiership league standings after last night’s encounter, but Head Coach, Eric Tinkler, still thinks his rivals are the favourites for the league title.
The Mother City-based club claimed a valuable point in an Absa Premiership encounter against their title rivals, Bidvest Wits at the Cape Town Stadium last night, April 19, which ensured that Head Coach Eric Tinkler’s side remained at the helm of the log.
Despite trailing one point behind City on 46-points, Wits still have two games in hand to be played in order to catch up with the Mother City-based club’s total of 24.
Speaking after the match last night, Tinkler revealed that the Students are the favourites for the league title at this point, after exiting both the CAF competition and the Nedbank Cup campaign.
“Wits are out of CAF, they are out of the (Nedbank) cup, he (Gavin Hunt) has a good time now to recover this weekend I am sure he is going to give the guys two days off, which is something they wouldn’t have had, had they’ve been in the Cup. So, I think they (Wits) are definitely favourites. Sundowns are still involved in CAF and we know what those journeys are like,” Tinkler told the media.
