Having resumed their regular training on Wednesday following the Christmas break, Orlando Pirates coach, Eric Tinkler, is aiming for a top two finish in the remaining 13 league fixtures of the 2014/15 season.
Pirates are currently in fourth spot and 20 points adrift from log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs who are at the summit on 46 points however this has not deterred Tinkler who believes his charges stand a good chance at finishing second at the end of the season.
“We must fight for second place because that will automatically put us back into the Champions League. We must get to second. We can still save our season,” stressed Tinkler on the Bucs official website.
“There is still a lot to play for, we have to defend our Nedbank Cup, and of course we are back into Africa this time with the Confederations Cup so we have to remain calm and focussed for those competitions,” added the Bucs mentor.
Pirates resume the league on February 11 with an away league encounter to struggling AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
