Nigeria stand-in captain Vincent Enyeama refused to accept the leader tag after they booked their place in the final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has been unable to force his way into the team as coach Stephen Keshi went for an unchanged side after their win over Ivory Coast.
Yobo enjoyed a cameo from the bench in the second-half of their 4-1 semi-final victory over Mali, but Enyeama says that while the player is off the field, everyone acts as captain.
"I'm not the captain, I'm just standing in. Joseph Yobo is the captain," he said at a press conference after the win.
"Everyone on the pitch is a captain of his position, we all talk to each other, we all make decisions."
He was then asked if he would let Yobo lift the trophy if they win the final, to which he added, "I don't think that is a question you should ask. If we go to the final and win on Sunday, Joseph will definitely go up and fetch the trophy. He deserves it, he works very hard for the country and he is the man."
