Despite being linked with PSL champions, Kaizer Chiefs, Tlou Segolela’s representative has revealed that the winger’s first choice is to move abroad, with an English Championship side having already offered him a trial.
The 25-year-old speedster put in a fine performance this weekend for Bafana Bafana, scoring both goals in the 2-0 victory over Lesotho -read full match report here-, adding to the speculation that has surrounded his future in recent weeks.
It was reported recently by Soccer-Laduma that, while Pirates are keen to keep hold of the winger, the clause in his contract keeping him at the club was a loose one that could possibly be overturned.
Due to that, Segolela has since been linked with a move away from Pirates, with Chiefs rumoured to be one of the teams keeping a close eye on him.
However, the player’s representative, Tim Sukazi, has revealed that Pirates have received an invitation from an unnamed Championship outfit, signed by the club’s head coach, requesting that the player spend some time with them during the off-season.
One stumbling block for the winger could be that, in order to obtain a work permit in the UK, ‘Sox’ needs to have played in 75% of his nation’s international games in the past two years, something that the winger hasn’t done.
However, should he continue to perform as he recently did against Lesotho, then it's to be expected that he will continue to play a part in Gordon Igesund’s plans going forward.
