How Ex-Sundowns Star Convinced Golden Boy To Move To Mzansi

TS Galaxy have former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Emiliano Tade to thank, after he managed to convince a talented striker to make the move to the Premier Soccer League.

After leaving Sundowns by mutual consent at the beginning of last season, Tade returned to his former team Auckland City in the New Zealand Premiership, where he teamed up with the talented Bevan, who netted 15 times for the team.

The Argentine attacker managed to convince the 23-year-old that the PSL could be a stepping stone for his career if he did decide to make the move.

“I played with Emiliano Tade (who said) that South African league is a very good league. He gave me good advice. He told me, 'If you do well there, things can happen,' Bevan said, as quoted on his club’s official website.

Meanwhile, the Nike Academy graduate is hoping to emulate the feats of his countrymen Jeremy Brockie and Michael Boxall, who left their mark in Mzansi after turning out for SuperSport United, Sundowns and Maritzburg United respectively.

“I just hope that I’ll follow on their footsteps. They have done well here. They have left their legacy. Hopefully, I can do the same thing,” he said.

While he hasn’t been able to make his debut for the Rockets in their opening DStv Premiership campaign just yet, the man who has been capped six times for the Kiwis is hoping he can continue his rich goalscoring form from last season.

“I’m very excited to be here. I’m looking to play as many games as I can. I promise to give my all every single game. I promise to give 100% every time I’m on the field of play. I want to see the team progress. I just want to help the team and hopefully, goals will come," he concluded.

Bevan was among 13 players unveiled by the Rockets for the 2020/21 season. View the rest of the club's acquisitions:
