Orlando Pirates will be jetting out to Egypt tonight, in anticipation of Sunday’s CAF Champions League Group A tie with Zamalek.
Bucs are heading out to North Africa early, as they prepare to take on the White Knights at El Gouna Stadium on Sunday at 16:00, with a view of securing their place in the semi-finals of Africa’s most prestigious club competition.
Asked why the sqaud was leaving on Tuesday, with team only playing on Sunday, Bucs’ PRO, Mickey Modisane, said that various variables influenced the decision.
He said that they will fly out of OR Tambo International airport at 22:00 and arrive in Cairo on Wednesday morning, around 06:00. Modisane said that they will then connect to El Gouna at around 9:00 on Wednesday morning.
“You should know that from Cairo to El Gouna is 400km and they use the small planes like Airlink, so we may have to have two groups going there. Also we had to leave on Tuesday and arrive on Wednesday so that we settle well, because on Friday Egypt is a Muslim dominated country and they are very busy.
"Our advisors there told us that we have to arrive early and prepare ourselves well,” Modisane said.
