Free State Stars have started their preparations for next season with the signing of Maluti FET College striker, Lucky Mokoena.
Mokoena captained the SAFA Second Division side when they beat Orlando Pirates in the Round of Last 32 of the Nedbank Cup, back in February. The talented player scored a brace as he and his teammates caused a major upset by eliminating their PSL opponents from the tournament with a 4-1 victory.
A Soccer-Laduma source has now revealed that the Free State-based club have penned a deal with the forward.
“The player has signed. He is excited about it. But he isn’t surprised at all. He was expecting something big after what he did against Pirates.
“The team (Stars) is secretive about it at the moment. They have told all the parties concerned to keep it within until they make the announcement themselves,” the source close to the deal revealed.
Ea Lla Koto will hope to turn Mokoena into a household name, like they did with Edward Manqele. Manqele was signed as an unknown player by Stars, before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns.
