Lechesa Quits FC Cape Town
Despite signing a contract until the end of the season, FC Cape Town head coach, Duncan Lechesa, has quit his post.
The former Free State Stars captain who promoted Polokwane City last season, and did so well by lifting the African Beasts out of the relegation zone up to their current 12th position, admits to being homesick.
“I’ve decided to go home, rest and wait for next season,” Lechesa told Soccer Laduma. “I resigned to be with my family. FC Cape Town was good to me, I had a wonderful time there but I feel sorry for the boys left behind.”
Errol Dicks’ team will play Blackburn Rovers on Saturday with Lechesa’s assistant, Sello ‘Jomo’ Ntuli, in charge.
Another victory at the NNK RFC Stadium will almost certainly guarantee their safety, but push AmaRover into deeper trouble.
“My job is done, out of seven games left they only need about three points,” he concluded.
