Lechesa Following Heric?
Duncan Lechesa’s decision to suddenly quit FC Cape Town for Sivutsa Stars, could come back to haunt him as the 'African Beasts' are considering taking the matter to the PSL.
Although the ex-Polokwane City mentor was not on the bench last Saturday (John Tlale was) when Stars were hammered 6-1 by Black Leopards, the very fact that he broke his contract with boss, Errol Dicks, is a serious matter, especially since Lechesa’s reason for resigning was twisted.
Dicks has revealed that he received the news via his assistant coach “Jomo” Ntuli.
“Duncan’s resignation said he wanted to spend time with his family,” Dicks told Soccer Laduma. “He’s pasted everything in the media, saying ‘my boys don’t recognise me anymore’ but he was already at Sivutsa. If it’s family issues I respect that, but I’m saddened, there needs to be integrity. You’re governed by the basic conditions of employment which is important as well. You know what, good luck to him, if you make decisions you must live and die by them.”
Not long ago, in an unprecedented case, the late African Warriors owner, Jabu Khumalo, brought Vladislav Heric before the DC for the very same thing, after his Serbian coach jumped ship to join Black Leopards.
Now FC Cape Town technical director, John Comitis, not only intends to take Lechesa’s matter higher, but also wants to bring Heric’s back on the agenda.
“We have to go to the PSL,” he said. If we don’t do anything it’s like saying, ‘signing a contract with a coach is irrelevant’. Khumalo won his case and Heric was told to pay R700 000, but said he didn’t have the money. The law doesn’t work like that. Now that he has a job, I’m going to tell Khumalo’s daughter,” he concluded.
