They are leading the charts in terms of goals this season, but what is the market value of the DStv Premiership’s goalscorers?
Last season’s top goalscorer Peter Shalulile stands out on the league’s leading goal poacher list, as he continued his fine scoring form since making the switch from Highlands Park to Mamelodi Sundowns. He has just 7 goals this season, but with managing to find the back of the net every 1.31 games, he is sure to get into double figures in no time.
SuperSport United talisman Bradley Grobler, who for the last two seasons, has shown no signs of slowing down, continues his purple patch in terms of goals. The 33-year-old appears to have matured with age. He has netted 13 times this campaign and is four goals ahead of his closest competitor.
A name that surprisingly finds himself in unfamiliar territory is Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane, who has excelled in the free role given to him by City coach Jan Olde Riekerink, netting on nine occasions this campaign.
According to Transfermarkt, the DStv Premiership’s five top goal scorers have a combined value of €3.7m (R66,9m) the most valuable of which is 2019/20 Player of the season, Themba Zwane with a market value of €1,30m (R23.5m).
He is closely followed by his Downs teammate in Shalulile, whose market value has skyrocketed over the years, which currently stands at €1m (R18.1m).
