Chippa & Malesela Come Back To Haunt Galaxy

DStv Premiership

Result: TS Galaxy 0-1 Chippa United

Date: 16 January 2021

Venue: Mbombela United

Chippa United managed to get back on the winning trail after defeating TS Galaxy 1-0 in Owen da Gama's first game in charge for the Rockets.

Dan Malesela, who came against his former employers, only named new signing Anthony Laffor on the bench while Owen da Gama recalled Wayde Lekay in his first game in charge of Galaxy.

The Chilli Boys got off to a good start when Frederic Nsabiyumva rose well to nod home Andile Mbenyane's corner for his first goal of the season after just five minutes.

Galaxy responded with a couple openings at the other end, with Lekay firing over the crossbar from close range on 18 minutes before Bevan Fransman headed over from Tshegofatso Nyama's cross seven minutes later.

After surviving waves of attack by the home side, Chippa nearly bagged themselves a second goal two minutes before the break but Eva Nga sent his effort over the target.

Mbunjana went for spectacular eight minutes into the second half after spotting Mtshali off his line but speculative attempt sailed wide of the target.

Da Gama responded with a change for the final 24 minutes as Lekay made way for Myer Bevan as the home side went in search of an equaliser.

The Rockets threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, but the Chilli Boys were resolute at the back to end their seven-game winless run.
