The visitors had a chance to grab an early lead in the 12th minute after Ashley Du Preez beat the offside trap and went through on goal but he fired his shot wide.

As the game opened up, Du Preez had another big chance to break the deadlock for Steve Barker's charges on the stroke of half-time after going clear on goal but shot-stopper Boalefa Pule made a point-blank save in a one-on-one.

The visitors were on the front foot coming from the half-time break and Ortiz had a chance to break the deadlock ten minutes from the restart with a close-range strike that was smothered by Pule.

Stellies remained in attack and Zitha Kwinika came very close to finally breaking the deadlock in the 69th minute with a strike that crashed the crossbar.

The Western Cape side changed their attacking approach in the latter stages as Judas Moseamedi replaced Du Preez and Stanley Dimgba came on for Mendieta.

Moseamedi had an opportunity to seal the win for Stellenbosch in stoppage time but he was denied by Pule, as the sides shared the spoils.
