Impressive Arrows Add To TTM's Woes

DStv Premiership

Result: Golden Arrows 1-0 Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila

Date: 16 January 2021

Venue: Princess Magogo Stadium

Unbeaten Golden Arrows continue to climb up the DStv Premiership standings after defeating Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Joseph Malongoane was recalled to the TTM line-up while coach Joel Masutha handed a start to Brighton Mhlongo between the sticks for his first league start of the season as Washington Arubi dropped to the bench.

Eight minutes into the contest, Masutha was forced into a re-shuffle as Diamond Thopola picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Tebogo Thangwane.

The game's opening goal fell to the home side after 18 minutes through Velemseni Ndwandwe, who has now taken his tally to four league goals for the campaign.

It got worse for TTM with 15 minutes left of the first half when the returning Malongoane was shown a red card for a tackle on Arrows winger Pule Mmodi.

Mandla Ncikazi's charges managed to carve out another opening before the interval when Ndwandwe turned provider to pick out Conco, who steered his effort wide of the mark.

Masutha responded with a triple change seven minutes after the break as Brandon Theron, Aluwani Nedzamba and Ayanda Akili were introduce for Celimpilo Ngema, Tebogo Thangwane and Thabo Rakhale.

Even with the flurry of changes, Arrows enjoyed more of the chances as Mmodi hit the woodwork in the 75th minute as his search for a first league goal continues.

Despite having a numerical advantage, Arrows were unable to find another goal although Ndwandwe's first-half strike was enough to send Arrows up to fourth spot.
