Arrows' Top Eight Hopes Dented After Dropping Points

Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United both missed the chance to boost their top eight hopes after playing to a goalless draw on Saturday afternoon.

DStv Premiership

Result: Golden Arrows 0-0 Sekhukhune United

Date: 23 April 2022

Venue: Princess Magogo Stadium

Abafana Bes'thende shuffled the side that was hammered by Mamelodi Sundowns, as goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana was recalled while the likes of Knox Mutizwa were dropped, meanwhile, Sekhukhune brought back Chibuike Ohizu at the expense of Justin Shonga.

Sekhukhune had a bright start as Ohizu came close to giving them the lead within the first minute with a strike from a rebound unmarked in the box that looped slightly over the crossbar.

Roderick Kabwe also had a chance to give the visitors the lead eight minutes later with a free header at the near post that sailed over the crossbar after a cross by Seth Parusnath.

Arrows were struggling to create clear chances but almost went ahead on the stroke of half-time after Saziso Magawana guided a free header at the back post on top of the net.

The visitors started the second stanza on the front foot and Nduduzo Sibiya came the closest to breaking the deadlock in the 66th minute with a low strike across goal that missed the bottom corner by a whisker.

Babina Noko refreshed their attack with the introduction of Charlton Mashumba in place of Ohizu in the closing stages while Arrows brought on Knox Mutizwa in place of Michael Gumede for the same reason.

However, neither side had the momentum in the dying minutes, as the defences took priority and they shared the spoils in the end.
