Bienvenu Eva Nga bagged a hat-trick to hand Chippa United their first victory of the DStv Premiership season against Maitzburg United on Tuesday night.
Chippa made three changes from the loss against Kaizer Chiefs, with Sandile Mthethwa, Eva Nga and Thabiso Lebitso all recalled while Martizburg welcomed back Nazeer Allie, Kwandakwensizwa Mngonyama and Nathanael Bongo.
The Team of Choice settled the quickest after Daylon Claasen opened the scoring in the tenth minute with a low strike from the centre of the six-yard box after latching onto Keagan Buchanan's shot.
The Chilli Boys eventually got back into the game in the 24th minute after Eva Nga powered home a strike on the wrong side of goalkeeper Jethren Barr from the penalty spot after Bongo brought down Chidi Kwem inside the box.
Bongo almost redeemed himself ten minutes before the break with a volleyed shot from a diagonal position inside the box that sailed slightly wide before Thabiso Kutumela forced a low save out of shot-stopper Veli Mothwa just before the break.
Maritzburg were missing chances after from the break and that came back to haunt them just before the hour-mark after Barr conceded a penalty by bringing down Eva Nga, who sent the Maritzburg shot-stopper the wrong way again to get his and Chippa's second goal on the night.
Eva Nga completed his hat-trick for the Chilli Boys in the 66th minute with a low strike into the bottom corner after being slipped through on goal by Tumiso Mogakwe.
Things went from bad to worse for Eric Tinkler's troops as they were reduced to ten men in the last quarter of an hour after second-half substitute Sibusiso Hlubi recieved a red card for a dangerous challenge on Sizwe Mdlinzo.
Judas Moseamedi came close to pulling a goal back for Maritzburg in the last eight minutes with a snap shot on a half-volley inside the box that was brilliantly saved by Mothwa, but Chippa were home and dry after that as they clinched their first victory of the campaign while Maritzburg lost their third straight game in the league.
