Kaizer Chiefs have ruled out claims that tonight's clash against Mamelodi Sundowns is a potential title-decider. The Glamour Boys currently lead the PSL table with a five point lead over second-placed Brazilians.
A win for Chiefs could see the club extend its lead to eight points over their fierce rivals. However, a win for Pitso Mosimane's men could see Downs close the gap to just two points with a game in hand as well.
Nonetheless, with half of the season still to be played, Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter, doesn't believe the result of tonight's clash will have a huge bearing on the title race.
He told the club's official website, "Games like this are always difficult. Traditionally when these two teams meet, they produce fireworks. The nature of this particular clash makes it even more important to the fans. For us it's getting on with the business and try to salvage three points from one of our fiercest rivals. People talk about a league decider, how can you talk about league decider halfway into the season? It can't be."
Meanwhile, Chiefs defender, Morgan Gould, believes the club should try to build on the strong finish they had just before the Christmas break. He said in edition 855 of Soccer-Laduma, "It is great to come back on a high but you never know what might happen to change the mood. We will keep giving our best and go out all guns blazing."
The action gets underway from 19h30 at Loftus Versveld.
