Man of the moment, Teko Modise, says they are gunning for victory in all their remaining matches of the season.
The Mamelodi Sundowns fan favourite scored a rather bizarre goal from the half-way line in the 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on the weekend in a game that was dubbed a title decider long before the first whistle was blown. Sundowns are still in second position on the table, but their win has resulted in them being level on points with the Amakhosi, although Chiefs have one game in hand. The Brazilians will be hoping for a repeated performance when they host Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday at Loftus Stadium.
He told his official website, “It is always good to score. It does not matter who I score against, but in a game like the one against Chiefs it means a lot to me because it helped the team get three points. Since the beginning of the season the spirit has always been great. We have no issues when it comes to that.
"As a result of this we have been getting the results. We are going to try to do our best to go on and win as many games as we can. This is a difficult task for us, but we have the mental strength to continue on the winning path.”
Modise also heaped praise on teammate Mzikayise Mashaba, who has shown great improvement in his game recently, as well as head coach Pitso Mosimane.
“Muzi has been doing great for the team. He has shown signs of maturity to his play and I think he did well in his overlapping to create chances. We are lucky to have a fullback that does what he does and in hope he recovers in time for the next match. The coach is happy with the team’s performance but I know he will never be satisfied. There is so much to improve on from our present performance and he is an important part of our fight for the title,” he said.
