With reports in the local media having suggested that the Ghanaian duo of Mumuni Abubakar and Emmanuel Baffour were on their way out of Mamelodi Sundowns during the January transfer window, the two players are still with the Chloorkop-based side.
A Soccer-Laduma source within the Downs camp informed the Siya crew that Abubakar and Baffour could not secure loan moves away from the club, and as a result will see out the 2012/13 campaign with the team.
“For now they will be at the team. They are really not playing but at the same time there was nowhere they could go and that's why they are still here. They were part of the team that travelled to Zimbabwe for three friendlies, but they were hardly used there, so that shows that though they are here, they have no role to play,” said the source.
Called for comment, Sundowns PRO Kabelo Mosito confirmed that the players are still with the club. He said, “Yes the Ghanian players are here. They are Sundowns players and that's why they are still with the team.”
