Mamelodi Sundowns’ newest recruit, Bongani Zungu, has spoken about his delight after signing for the Chloorkop-based outfit.
The Siya crew revealed last Sunday that the 20-year-old midfielder had completed his move to the Brazilians, with the club now confirming the news.
Zungu had an exceptional season with University of Pretoria last season, making 25 league appearances and scoring seven goals in the process. He was named as the club’s Young Player of the Season at their end-of-season awards ceremony, following his brilliant campaign.
He told the club’s official website, “I signed for Sundowns knowing that there is massive pressure, but I am a mentally strong person and feel I can deal with it. It is my desire to win trophies, and I feel Sundowns is where I can achieve this.
“It has always been my dream to play for a big team like Sundowns, and I am looking forward to it. I know that I am going to have to work hard to earn my place in the team, but I will work hard, as I have always done.”
According to the club, Zungu has joined up with the rest of the team in Polokwane, where they are holding a preseason camp.
