Mamelodi Sundowns take on Wits in an Absa Premiership encounter on Saturday evening. The game is eagerly anticipated as Sundowns, under Pitso Mosimane, are playing some free-flowing football, whereas Wits have assembled a quality squad.
Additionally, Sundowns are undefeated in the PSL this season, leading some to speculate that the club are on course to finally win some silverware for the first time since 2008.
The winless streak is something that former Sundowns striker, Nyasha Mushekwi, expressed his frustrations at in edition 839 of Soccer-Laduma.
He said, “I would have loved to have changed the team’s fortunes in terms of winning...It was the first time I played for three seasons without winning a trophy.”
Nonetheless, putting together a consistent sequence of positive results will be key for the club in their quest for silverware, and the visit of Wits will be arguably the club’s biggest test of the new campaign.
However, Wits may also feel they can collect all three points given some of the quality Gavin Hunt has at his disposal.
One of the club’s latest recruits, Musa Bilankulu, believes the Students can come out on top on Saturday.
He told the Siya crew, “It’s going to be a tough game given we’ve been playing so many games in such a short space of time. And, we have to be cautious because we are playing away from home.
“Sundowns have assembled quite a good squad. They’ve got good ball players and so if we can manage to come up and fight against them, I believe we can get the result. They won’t be sitting back, they’ll be attacking.”
The two teams will square up from 18:00 at Loftus Stadium.
