On Sunday Bafana Bafana drew two-all with Morocco to qualify for the quarterfinal stage of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, and at the same time, Dean Furman's club Oldham Athletic beat Liverpool 3-2 in the FA Cup.
The Bafana midfielder said that he couldn't have asked for a better day, having starred in Gordon Igesund’s outfit. He told the Siya crew that it is a double celebration for him, before heaping praise on goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.
“I heard that the big man Smith scored two goals against Liverpool and that means a lot. I know they will be at my house parting today. But I am here and celebrating with my country after qualifying for the Afcon quarterfinals.
“We have to thank Khune for keeping us in the game. We put him under pressure but he did very well. We are all happy because as a team we fought hard to get the draw and remain in the tournament.
“So there are very few days like this for a player where both your club and country do well and qualify for the next round. It is a double celebration for me,” Furman concluded.
