Domestic Transfer Window Officially Open!

Domestic Transfer Window Officially Open!

By Soccer Laduma - Jan 02, 2018 10:45 AM

The Premier Soccer League domestic transfer window officially opens today, January 02, as clubs look to further bolster their squads for the upcoming second-half of the 2017/18 campaign.

The likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City and Ajax Cape Town have all already concluded signings ahead of the transfer period, with Leonardo Castro and Aubrey Ngoma all completing moves elsewhere in Mzansi’s top flight.

However, despite several deals being concluded ahead of the official opening of the transfer window, clubs will only be able to register the players with the PSL as of today, January 02, given that they were not free agents at the time of the transfer.

The January transfer window also allows for clubs to enter in to talks with players about personal terms, this only after terms of the transfer between the buying and selling club have been agreed upon.

On the other hand, players whose contracts are set to expire on June 30 this year, will now be able to sign a pre-contract elsewhere and subsequently move on a free at the end of their deals.

However, some clubs will rather look to sell their players who are in the final six months of their contracts, as they look to cash in on a cut-fee price and avoid losing their players on a free transfer.
