Barely a month after squaring off in the Nedbank Cup final, Chippa United and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila will go head-to-head in the fight for their lives.
So far, it is advantage to Vhadau Vha Dhamani, who managed to oust their opponents in the cup final to clinch the R7 million prize money at the Free State Stadium.
Now, with both clubs fighting to retain their top-flight status, the two sides will do battle at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in a match that could potentially be worth millions.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game, TTM coach Dylan Kerr says he is optimistic of his side’s chances of doing the double over Chippa – in a match that would ultimately save their campaign.
“We are here in preparation for the upcoming match against Chippa which for me is one of the biggest cup finals for both teams. We played against them a couple of weeks ago in the Nedbank, so we are here ready to start preparation and ready for the game on Wednesday, at Old Peter Mokaba, which is a definite six pointer” Kerr told the club’s media department.
“I’ve got every confidence and belief in the players. They’ve got the right attitude and the right team spirit to get three points against Chippa United and hopefully the response of everyone involved with TTM will be behind the squad of players that we select for Wednesday,” he added.
TTM sit in 13th position, four points clear of 15th placed Chippa United and a win for either team could go a long way in ensuring their survival in the DStv Premiership next season.
