This time last season Kaizer Chiefs had scored thirteen goals and conceded just three, and were sitting at the top of the PSL log. In their current campaign they’ve scored five and conceded four goals.
Stuart Baxter’s side have an average of around 15 shots on goal per game so far this season, which is the fifth best in the league, however of those shots only around 5.5 of them are on target, giving them a percentage of just over 33%.
In their last game, the 0-0 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic, the Amakhosi had 19 shots on goal throughout the duration of the game, although only 10.53% of them were on target.
Meanwhile, in their last win, the 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United, Chiefs had 29 efforts on goal, and should probably have converted more than two of them.
With these stats in mind, it could be said that the Glamour Boys are struggling in front of goal, despite the loan acquisition of Hoffenheim’s Zimbabwean striker Knowledge Musona.
Musona’s first league goal, against the Team of Choice, as well as his one for Zimbabwe against Bafana Bafana, should boost his confidence considerably and fans of the club will be hoping that he, as well as Kingston Nkhatha and Lehlohonolo Majoro, can start converting more chances in the weeks ahead.
