Result: AmaZulu 2-0 P Stars
Date: 27 November 2013
Venue: Princess Magogo Stadium
A brace by AmaZulu’s Goodman Dlamini was enough to seal a first win in seven league matches as they saw off Platinum Stars 2-0 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
Dlamini gave hosts AmaZulu the perfect start to their Absa Premiership clash, when he gave them an early lead with a great strike from outside the box leaving Platinum Stars goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane with no chance after being assisted by Njabulo Manqana.
Ayanda Dlamini then had the next chance for Usuthu with just over 20 minutes played, but shot-stopper Mpontshane did well to keep the effort out.
Dikwena keeper Mpontshane was the busier between the posts and was called into action once more on the half-hour mark when he denied Ayanda Dlamini from grabbing Amazulu's second of the game.
Njabulo Manqana then had the final chance of the first-half for Craig Rosslee’s men, when he forced the Stars keeper to parry his effort away from goal with Dlamini fluffing the rebound wide.
The first shot of the second-half fell to Usuthu’s Njabulo Manqana, but his effort was comfortable for Platinum Star’s Mpontshane in goal with just a minute played after the half-time break.
Dikwena then had a handful of chances as they piled on some pressure on their hosts in the second period, as they pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
Aubrey Mathibe made a rare save in the 68th minute when he blocked a Robert Ng'ambi shot resulting in a corner for the visitors.
After a quiet first-half for AmaZulu’s keeper, Mathibe was again forced into a save 10 minutes later, this time he kept out a Mogakolodi Ngele effort at goal.
Goodman Dlamini then scored his second of the game, to seal a first league win in seven attempts when he slotted home Thamsanqa Teyise’s pass to make it 2-0 for Rosslee’s men.
