While Kaizer Chiefs’ Josta Dladla admits the right-back position is not his regular position, he has to grab any chance you can get if you want to play.
Dladla produced a ‘Man of the Match’ performance playing in the unfamiliar right-back position in the Amakhosi’s 2-1 win over Platinum Stars in an Absa Premiership match on Saturday night.
Dladla had to play there due to the absence of Siboniso Gaxa due to injury and he impressed all admitting he was more than happy to receive the ‘Man of the Match’ accolade his first in two seasons.
“It is my first Man of the Match in two seasons,” said Dladla after the match.
“It has been hard for me the last two seasons and now I have gotten a chance to play in an unfamiliar position, but I had to go out there and just do it and play for the team.
“It is not just about me, it is about Kaizer Chiefs and all the fans out there and those who have supported me all the way.
“Even if I don’t play in that position I listen to the coach when he talks.
“Any chance that you get you have to take it.”
Looking ahead to Chiefs’ next game, a second leg MTN8 semifinal on Tuesday, Dladla says it is up the coach if he plays in that position again.
“It depends on the coach. If he decides he wants to rest me for the next game, it is up to him. He is the one to decide, if I have to play, I will play. I just have to keep on being positive,” concluded Dladla.
