ABSA Premiership
Result: P Stars 1-0 Tuks
Date: 18 September 2013
Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium
Siphelele Mthembu was the hero for Platinum Stars as his 45th minute goal was enough to seal all three points for the Rustenburg team against University of Pretoria.
This keeps Dikwena’s unbeaten start to the season intact after Washinton Arubi was finally beaten in first half injury-time, when Stars right-back Vuyo Mere slipped the ball in for Mthembu to side-foot home.
Coming off their first win of the season against Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 at home, AmaTuks’ coach Steve Barker named an unchanged side coming into this match.
The visitors did however create a few opportunities during the 90 minutes but Dikwena looked the livelier of the two with Mthembu and Robert Ng’ambi spurning opportunities, catching AmaTuks on the break.
Platinum stars have shown dominant home form all season, and have now taken their unbeaten run to seven matches, will hope to keep up that run when they take on Kaizer Chiefs away from home on Saturday night.
Barker will hope his team can bounce back from this defeat when they host Golden Arrows.
