Date: 24 September 2013

Venue: Bidvest Stadium

Platinum Stars sealed their place in the MTN8 final tonight, as they beat Wits 2-1in the semi-final second-leg at the Bidvest Stadium, thanks to a brace from Robert Ng'ambi.

Wits started the second-leg knowing they had it all to do, after losing 4-2 in the first-leg away to Platinum Stars. Their only glimmer of hope came from the fact that they had scored two vital away goals, so needed to to score at least two goals to get through.

Wits got their first shot on goal in the 2nd minute, when new signing Onismor Bhasera tried a shot from just inside the area, but his shot went wide and never threatened.

A minute later Sipho Mngomezulu floated in a dangerous cross that  looked goal bound, and it almost caught out Siyabonga Mpontshane but he tipped it out for a corner.

In the 16th minute Siyabonga Nhlapho ran onto a loose ball just outside the box, but his shot flew wide to the left.

Four minutes later Nhlapho was in action again, as he won possession outside the area, but shot wide again.

In the 21st minute Vuyo Mere had Platinum Stars' first shot on target, but it lacked power and went straight into the hands of Moeneeb Josephs.

Sibusiso Vilakazi took advantage of a defensive slip and had a shot in the 25th minute, but Mpontshane got down well to save the shot.

After a good interception by Bhasera, the Students pushed forward and Ryan Chapman had good chance in the 27th minute but his powerful shot was blocked by Mpontshane.

Benjani Mwaruwari ran into the box in the 31st minute, but his attempted shot flew wide and high.

Dikwena were getting very opportunities but Siphelele Mthembu tried a long shot in the 33rd minute, but it flew across goal and wide.

Chapman had an opportunity in the 41st minute, but he couldn't quite get contact on the ball and it floated into Mpontshane's hands.

Chapman had another chance in the 43rd minute, but his shot was off target and flew across goal.

Mthembu went close for Dikwena in the second minute of the second-half, but his shot hit the cross bar and flew over.

Vilakazi pounced on a clearance and had a long range effort in the 49th minute for Wits, but his shot from out left flew wide of the target.

In the 51st minute, a good pass from Chapman found substitute Robin Ngalande in the box, but his shot just flew over the goal.

Platinum Stars broke the deadlock in the 60th minute as Robert Ng'ambi scored to make it 1-0. Vuyo Mere whipped in a good cross and Josephs could only deflect it into the path of Ng'ambi, who made no mistake.

Musa Bilankulu had a chance for Wits in the 65th minute but he could only watch as his attempt flew over the goal.

Substitute Denver Mukamba gave Wits a glimmer of hope, heading in to make it 1-1 in the 71st minute, after a good cross from another substitute Getaneh Kebede.

Three minutes later Mngomezulu whipped in a good cross towards Chapman, but Mpontshane got up well to deflect it out for a corner.

Ng'ambi scored his second in the 78th minute, as he ran on to another great cross from Mere, and he was able to place the ball past Josephs to make it 2-1. The goal took the overall score to 6-3 over both legs, and virtually sealed Dikwena's place in the MTN8 final.

Vilakazi had a chance in the 80th minute but his shot went straight to Mpontshane, and a minute later Kebede headed wide as Wits continued to push forward with time running out. Papy Faty's shot in the 85th minute was blocked by Issa Sarr.

In the 88th minute substitute Henrico Botes broke free, and held the ball up before laying it back to fellow sub Mogakolodi Ngele, but his shot went high in to the stands.
