Word reaching the Siya crew is that Platinum Stars have rejected Cavin Johnson’s resignation and expect him to be at pre-season training with the club.
It was revealed earlier this week that the Q2 Coach of the Quarter had informed Dikwena of his planned resignation, citing family reasons as his motivation for wanting to leave.
The crew have previously revealed that Johnson has already agreed to personal terms with SuperSport United, but the snag in the deal is getting the Stars head coach away from his current club in Phokeng.
According to a Siya crew source, the refusal to accept Johnson’s resignation could well be an attempt to frustrate the coach rather than an attempt to make sure he remains at the club for the distant future.
Allan Freese, the club’s current head of youth, has been touted as the management’s favourite for the head coach position at Dikwena, and it may well be that they still look to appoint him ahead of next season, irrespective of what happens to Johnson.
Soccer-Laduma will continue to monitor the situation and keep you posted on any updates.
