Siphelele Mthembu is likely to miss Platinum Stars’ Telkom Knockout game against Maritzburg United this weekend due to a calf injury.
The 26-year-old has been in fine form for Dikwena in recent weeks, playing a crucial role as they went on to triumph in the MTN8 final against his former team, Orlando Pirates.
However, having picked up an injury to his calf in that game, he is now likely to miss the encounter with the Team of Choice as Allan Freese wants him to recover properly.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Freese said, “He’s got a calf injury, not serious, but we want to make sure he has a break so that he has time to heal properly. He’s still recovering and we’re just taking it day by day so we don’t know how soon he will be back.”
Mthembu is the only doubt for Stars going into the game this weekend as they have no other injury or suspension worries that will keep players out.
