Dikwena Fire Three Past SuperSport

Absa Premiership

Full Time: Platinum Stars 3-0 SuperSport United

Date: 3 November 2013

Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium

A second half brace from Mogakolodi Ngele helped Platinum Stars to a 3-0 win over SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.

Henrico Botes scored the opening goal in the first half with a fine finish in the 35th minute.

Vuyo Mere, though, had the first shot on goal in the fourth minute as he fired a 25-yard free-kick narrowly wide.

Thuso Phala created SuperSport United’s first scoring chance in the ninth minute when his low cross from the left was met by Sameehg Doutie, but he shot wide from close range.

In the 16th minute a long range shot from Tintswalo Edward Tshabalala was well-saved by Ronwen Williams.

Eight minutes later and Sibusiso Zuma tried his luck from an acute angle 16-yards out, but he saw his shot strike the side-netting.

In the 26th minute David Mathebula should really have given SuperSport the lead when he met a Zuma cross, but he headed over the crossbar under no pressure at all.

In the 35th minute Stars took the lead as Botes ran onto a pass over the top of the United defence and fired an early shot from just inside the box, which caught Williams unaware and found its way into the bottom left-hand corner, 1-0.

Neither side created any more significant chances as the half ended in favour of the home side.

The second 45 saw Platinum Stars double their lead five minutes after the restart as Mogakolodi Ngele scored from a tight angle on the left side, firing his 14-yard shot into the bottom right corner, 2-0.

In the 65th minute Ngele grabbed his second goal of the game as he drove into the 18-yard box, beating a couple of defenders before passing the ball into the back of the net from six-yards out, 3-0.

SuperSport tried to find their way back into the match, but were unable to create any real scoring chances as Platinum Stars picked up the three points.
